WOMEN IN ARCHERY Q&A

Favourite Archery Memory?

I keep making new favourites all the time but right now it would be taking each of my 2 children around the course for their first archery competition.

What Appeals to You About Archery?

I love the discipline needed to achieve the result – a set of steps that you have to execute just right in order to achieve the goal. I’m a perfectionist by nature so there’s a constant drive to do better than I did the last time or better than I’ve done before.

Are Any Family Members Involved in Archery?

Yes! My family and I started archery when I was 7 years old and we’ve been shooting ever since. I met my husband at our archery club and we now have 2 children (9 and 4) who also shoot with us. Most of our conversations around the dinner table come back to archery in some way or other – we literally live and breathe it.

First Bow?

A Sherwood Forrest fibre glass recurve closely followed by an Alpine Colt.

Current Bow Set Details and Arrows?

I shoot an Elite Energy 35 ENS at 45lb and 25.5” draw length. It’s fitted with an Axcel Achieve XP sight, Shrewd Optum scope and BStinger Micro Hex stabilisers. My arrows are Easton 670 ACE’s.

Greatest Achievements In or Outside of Archery?

I think the thing I’m most proud of is my first perfect 400 ABA round which I shot just the other day. It’s something I’ve been trying to do for a really long time and I’m pretty excited to be able to say that I’ve finally done it.

Words of Encouragement for other Females Archers?

I would recommend archery as a sport for any family looking for something that they can do together. It has helped my family and I make some priceless memories and meet some wonderful friends. I’m really grateful to have been able to be involved in the sport for as long as I have and I can’t wait to see what our next archery adventure will be.

SHARING IS CARING! 😉
