WOMEN IN ARCHERY Q&A
How Many Years Have You Been Involved In Archery?
I’ve been involved for 30 years!
Who’s Your Local Club?
I’m currently a member of Moranbah Field Archers but grew up being a member of The Renegades Club in Ipswich. I’ve also been a member of Mackay and District Bowhunters.
What Type of Archery Do You Shoot?
I shoot mainly ABA and IFAA.
Do You Hunt?
Yes, but the last few years with just having had kids makes it a little hard to get out hunting. We recently went on our first hunting trip, did not get anything but the boy’s ages two and eight months had a blast!
Favourite Archery Memory?
My entire life has been filled with archery memories but one of the highlights would be placing third in the 2016 World Field Archers Championships, only a few points behind Mum, or any of the many archery holidays I had growing up! Travelling to Nationals and even over to Norfolk Island.
What About Archery Appeals To You?
I love that it is a sport that the entire family can participate in and you get to meet and make friendships with people all over the country who are into the same things as you!
Are Any Family Members Involved In Archery?
All of them! (Literally!) My parents and my sister and then once my sister and I got married our husbands had no choice other than to get involved! Now our little toddlers have started to shoot as well.
First and Current Bow?
My first bow was a Phandmade longbow that I still have today!
Currently, I’m shooting a Hoyt Podium at 45 Pounds Barebow with Easton Carbon One Arrows.
What Are Some of Your Great Achievements In Or Outside of Archery?
Placing Third at The 2016 World Field Archery Championships in Bowhunter Unlimited, along with placing in many of the Nations I have attended.
Do You Have Any Sponsors?
I was first sponsored by Abbey Archery as a junior archer and I have maintained that sponsorship as my life has changed. Abbey Archery has been a major part of my archery journey and I have loved some of the friendships I have made with some of the other sponsored archers along the way.
Any Last Words?
Getting to do a sport that my entire family has enjoyed and competed in has been a major part of my life and I love the closeness it has created within my family. Now as a mum to two boys, I’m sure we have many archery adventures ahead of us in competitions and hunting.
